Careers at AIGAS
Help shape the future of AI governance in accountancy.
An opportunity to contribute to something bigger than a job title.
Artificial intelligence is transforming the accountancy profession. As firms increasingly adopt AI across their operations, the need for responsible governance, professional accountability and independent assurance has never been more important.
At AIGAS, we're working to address that challenge.
Building an Organisation for the Future
AIGAS is at an important stage in its development.
What began as an initiative to address a growing gap in the accountancy profession is evolving into a dedicated standards and assurance organisation.
Our vision extends beyond publishing a governance framework.
We want to establish a recognised professional ecosystem built around a credible Standard, independent assurance, practical education and a network of competent practitioners who can support firms in adopting responsible AI governance.
Achieving that requires an organisation with the right leadership, expertise, governance and operational capabilities.
As AIGAS develops, we are taking deliberate steps to build that organisation.
Our next phase includes strengthening two essential functions:
Professional Services & Enablement
Developing the training, professional education and practitioner capabilities needed to support consistent adoption of the AIGAS Standard.
Standards & Assurance
Safeguarding the technical integrity, independence and ongoing development of the Standard and its associated assurance processes.
These functions will play an important role in supporting AIGAS's long-term development and credibility.
More Than a Leadership Position
Shared purpose. Proven expertise. Mutual commitment.
We believe that joining the leadership team of an emerging organisation should be a considered decision for everyone involved.
We're not simply looking for individuals with impressive CVs or experience managing established departments.
We're looking for people who take the time to understand what AIGAS is trying to achieve, examine the challenges facing the accountancy profession and develop their own conviction about the opportunity ahead.
People who bring independent thinking, professional judgement and the willingness to challenge assumptions.
People who see what needs to be built and have the experience, initiative and determination to help build it.
Just as importantly, we recognise that prospective leaders need time to understand us.
Our ambitions, our values, our stage of development and the realities of building an organisation around an emerging professional standard must align with their own professional and personal aspirations.
We don't expect that mutual understanding to emerge from a single interview.
For us, the right appointment begins with a shared belief in the purpose, supported by the expertise and commitment to turn that belief into something meaningful.
Our Planned Leadership Opportunities
We are beginning conversations with experienced professionals regarding two planned senior leadership appointments.
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who are actively considering their next opportunity, as well as those who are simply interested in exploring the future of AIGAS.
Director of Professional Services & Enablement
Help build the professional education and practitioner enablement infrastructure behind the AIGAS Standard.
This role will lead the development of our professional training curriculum, Certified Service Provider (CSP) enablement programmes, implementation methodologies and supporting learning resources.
We are looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial leader who can turn strategic objectives into practical programmes, establish effective processes and build a function capable of supporting a growing professional ecosystem.
The right individual will bring a strong understanding of professional education, consulting enablement or technical training, together with the independence and initiative to develop a scalable operation.
This is an opportunity to create and lead an important part of AIGAS's future organisational capability.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Developing and maintaining the AIGAS training curriculum.
- Establishing professional education and learning pathways.
- Leading CSP training, onboarding and enablement.
- Building practical implementation resources and methodologies.
- Developing quality-controlled, scalable training operations.
- Supporting professional education partnerships and continued practitioner development.
Director of Standards & Assurance
Help establish and safeguard the technical integrity, credibility and independence of the AIGAS Standard.
This role will provide senior technical leadership over the development and maintenance of the Standard, its assessment methodology, assurance governance and the arrangements needed to support consistent and impartial assurance decisions.
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in standards, audit, risk management, governance, certification or assurance.
The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with independent professional judgement and the confidence to challenge decisions when necessary.
This position will play a central role in establishing the governance structures and technical oversight needed to support the credibility of AIGAS as it develops.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leading the ongoing development and controlled maintenance of the AIGAS Standard.
- Overseeing technical interpretation and assessment methodology.
- Establishing robust assurance quality and governance processes.
- Developing assessor and CSP competence requirements.
- Supporting independent oversight and impartial decision-making.
- Engaging with professional bodies and relevant standards stakeholders.
Our Approach to Leadership Appointments
Meaningful conversations come first.
We recognise that senior leadership appointments are significant commitments, particularly within an organisation at our stage of development.
For that reason, we take a considered, relationship-led approach to recruitment.
Our process is intended to give both parties the opportunity to develop a genuine understanding of the mission, the challenges, the opportunities and each other's expectations.
An initial conversation
We begin by getting to know one another, discussing the direction of AIGAS and exploring what interests you about our work.
There is no expectation of an immediate commitment.
Exploring the opportunity
We encourage prospective leaders to examine our approach, understand the accountancy sector's evolving needs and consider how their knowledge and experience could contribute.
We welcome questions, independent perspectives and constructive challenge.
Developing a shared understanding
As conversations progress, we explore the responsibilities, organisational priorities, resources and longer-term objectives associated with the position.
This is an opportunity for both parties to determine whether their expectations and ambitions are compatible.
A mutual decision
Where there is a strong alignment of purpose, capability and expectations, we move towards a formal appointment process, including agreed responsibilities, employment arrangements and remuneration.
Our intention is to build lasting professional relationships, not simply fill vacancies.
What We Value
As we build the next stage of AIGAS, there are certain qualities we believe are essential in our leadership team.
Independent Thinking
We value individuals who form their own conclusions, ask difficult questions and contribute perspectives that strengthen our approach.
Professional Integrity
The credibility of AIGAS depends on sound judgement, transparency, accountability and a willingness to make the right decisions, even when they are challenging.
Entrepreneurial Initiative
We are building an organisation, not simply maintaining one. We value people who recognise opportunities, take ownership and turn ideas into practical outcomes.
Meaningful Expertise
We look for professionals who bring relevant experience, strong technical knowledge and a clear understanding of the responsibilities associated with their role.
Long-Term Commitment
We want leaders who recognise the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to responsible AI adoption across the accountancy profession.
Mutual Respect
We believe strong leadership teams are built through trust, constructive challenge, open communication and a shared commitment to achieving meaningful outcomes.
Why AIGAS?
An opportunity to help build something that matters.
The accountancy profession is entering a period of significant technological change.
Artificial intelligence presents enormous opportunities, but it also introduces new questions around professional responsibility, client confidentiality, oversight, accountability and trust.
We believe that effective AI governance should not be accessible only to the largest organisations.
Accounting firms of all sizes should have access to a practical, proportionate and credible framework that helps them manage the risks associated with AI adoption.
AIGAS is working to make that possible.
For the right individuals, joining our leadership team presents an opportunity to contribute to the development of an emerging professional standard, influence how it is adopted and help build the organisation that supports it.
These are roles with genuine responsibility, opportunities to shape organisational direction and the potential to make a meaningful contribution to the future of the profession.
